Backlight Design and Analysis Using LightTools®

LightTools is a revolutionary illumination design package from Optical Research Associates (ORA), the world leader in optical engineering software. It is based on interactive 3D solid modeling, combining full optical accuracy, powerful optical and illumination analysis features, and a fully interactive graphical interface.

From concept to completion, LightTools supports every aspect of your illumination design project, enabling you to iterate and perfect your illumination system design quickly and accurately.

 

This 3-day course is aimed at engineers and scientists who wish to model and analyze backlights in LightTools.

The first day of the course is an optional general overview of the fundamentals of using LightTools, as a prerequisite to the remainder of the class. Experienced users may find this useful as a refresher, or may choose to skip the initial day (if so, please indicate this when you register).

Classes begin at 8:30 a.m. and end at 5:30 p.m. each day, with coffee and lunch breaks at appropriate times. Hands-on workshops are held throughout the day. Computers will be provided as needed. Attendees are welcome to bring their own laptops, and will receive a discount on their registration fee.

 

Mary Kate Crawford, Ph.D. is a Systems Engineer in Customer Service and provides technical support for both LightTools and CODE V. She has over 10 years experience in the design and analysis of optical systems.

Jake Jacobsen, Ph.D. is the LightTools Product Manager and has over 10 years experience in the design and analysis of optical systems.

Mali Maliyagoda is an Optical Engineer in Customer Service and provides Technical Support for LightTools. Mali has over 5 years' experience modeling and analyzing illumination systems.
