Robert S. Hilbert Memorial Student Travel Grant Established
Travel grant established as part of the OSA Foundation to support research excellence of students in the areas of optical engineering, lens design and illumination design. Application deadline for students attending the 2010 International Optical Design Conference is March 24.
March 2010 - Optical Research Associates (ORA®) is sponsoring the Robert S. Hilbert Memorial Student Travel Grant as part of the Optical Society of America (OSA) Foundation, whose mission includes supporting programs that advance optics education and provide career and professional development resources.
The Robert S. Hilbert Memorial Student Travel Grant offers financial support to help defray the cost of student travel to the International Optical Design Conference (IODC), Frontiers in Optics (OSA's Annual Meeting), and other professional meetings. The grant was established in honor of Bob Hilbert (1941-2008), former ORA President and CEO, who was a respected member of the optics community and enthusiastically embraced learning and optics education. The grant is part of the OSA Foundation's Future Innovators Fund.
