LightTools 7.0.0 Service Release (June 2010)
The LightTools 7.0.0 Service Release provides fixes for more than 20 customer-reported bugs, including the following:
Core Module
- Resolves a bug in which rotating the zone of an elliptical Gaussian scatterer failed to rotate the scatter pattern.
- Implements an improvement to the Thin Film Editor to account for wavelength dependence in performance coatings.
- Fixes a bug that caused inconsistent display of receiver filter data in the System Navigator tree.
- Fixes a bug in which a source’s spatial apodization properties were not copied when using the Copy/Paste Geometry options.
- Fixes a bug that caused superconic lens surfaces to trace incorrectly when the Precision Ray Trace mode was enabled.
- Enhances the AddToGroup and ReleaseFromGroup commands so that they automatically update pickup definitions associated with grouped objects.
- Improves rendering performance when running LightTools under Windows 7 by temporarily disabling Windows Aero View while LightTools is running. This provides a temporary solution for Windows 7 users. A solution that does not temporarily disable Aero View but still resolves Windows 7 rendering issues is planned for the next update to LightTools.
Illumination Module
- Fixes a bug in which a Booleaned toroid did not ray trace correctly when the Ignore Individual Entity Settings ray trace preference was enabled.
- Fixes a coordinate system issue that prevented linear gratings from ray tracing correctly in LightTools 7.0.
- Implements a performance enhancement when ray tracing imported geometry that has been repaired in LightTools.
- Fixes a bug that caused LightTools to display blank spatial luminance charts when the edge preservation setting was enabled. This bug affected only systems in which the spatial luminance flux value was very low, such as a pinhole camera.
- Fixes a bug that caused photometry defaults in a saved model to be reset with existing defaults in a restored model.
Optimization Module
- Adds an improvement that automatically updates mesh merit functions when receivers are renamed.
Advanced Physics Module
- Implements faster loading of LightTools models (.lts files) that contain user-defined optical properties.
Utilities
- Fixes an issue in the DXF Import/Export utility where it sometimes failed to successfully load 3D texture data.
- Includes the following updates to the Solar Tracking Utility:
- Fixes a bug that caused the yearly energy calculation to be scaled incorrectly when units other than meters were used in the LightTools model.
- Fixes a bug that could cause the day scan calculation to be incorrect when the starting source value was zero.
- Fixes a bug in which the Filament Utility always created photometric sources (in lumens), even when the flux units were set to watts.
- Implements an update that allows use of the Fresnel Lenses utility without an Optimization module license. Note that optimization-related features are now disabled in this utility when the Optimization license is not found.
COM/API
- Implements an improvement to the GetMeshData function so that it returns a failure status (1) when an incorrect cellFilter string is specified.
- Fixes a crashing bug that occurred when evaluating an optimization merit function using either the COM interface or the Parameter Sensitivity utility.
- In JumpStart macro functions, the GenerateRayPreview command has been replaced with ShowRayPreview.
This patch updates any existing LightTools 7.0.0 executable. Therefore, you must have version 7.0.0 installed on your PC before applying the patch.
