Education

1985 M.S. Degree in Optical Sciences, University of Arizona
1982 B.S Degree in Engineering Physics, University of California at Berkeley

His career in Optical Engineering has given him a broad experience in the design and analysis of a wide variety of optical systems from military sensors to state-of-the-art photolithography stepper lenses. His background has given him experience in all phases of optical engineering from conceptual design and analysis to the production of complex electro-opto-mechanical systems.

He has held project management positions in product development and concept research. He was responsible for the development of an improved optical subsystem for a Laser Direct Imager used in pattern generation for the printed circuit board industry. He also directed the research and development of a novel reflective optical baffle concept for military sensor applications and the use of diffractive optics for infra-red optical systems.
With respect to optical design, he has designed and analyzed high numerical aperture photolithography stepper lenses to support deep UV and extreme UV light sources, anamorphic f-theta scan lenses for high resolution laser printer applications, and zoom and fixed focal length lenses for commercial photographic and infrared camera systems. In addition his experience has also included many phases of Ballistic Missile Defense optical systems including ground- and spaced-based sensors, directed-energy beam control, and terminal guidance seeker systems.
