LightTools is a complete optical design and analysis software package featuring virtual prototyping, simulation, and optimization of backlight and rear projector systems. LightTools models sources, backlight units, enhancement and recycling films, and the many performance aspects of display systems. • User-defined 3D textures, which model a variety of complex 3D surface reliefs for the extraction of light from a backlight unit.

• LightTools Backlight Pattern Optimization, which automatically designs backlight extraction patterns. This algorithm will work on both placement and texture size, and is fully compatible with user-defined 3D textures.

• Measured BSDF scattering, which provides accurate modeling of scattering surfaces by allowing you to apply measured BSDF data (both isotropic and anisotropic) to a surface.

• Photorealistic Rendering, which generates high-quality images of LightTools models that appear to be digital photographs. See how your backlight will look before prototyping.
