- Beam Synthesis Propagation (BSP) general complex field input gives you flexibility to customize the input beam description by importing the beam’s intensity and phase, including polarization information. This feature also allows the definition and propagation of higher-order laser modes.
- BSP birefringent crystal modeling enhances BSP’s ability to accurately model beam propagation through devices that manipulate the polarization of light, including optical telecommunication devices and lithography lenses.
- BSP multiprocessor support enables you to obtain BSP analysis results in a fraction of the time needed using a single processor.
- BSP Pre-Analysis, which recommends BSP settings based on your lens system configuration and required output, is now more robust when used with systems with a Gaussian input field followed by small collimation elements, a common configuration in many optical telecommunication devices.
- The Glass Expert tool uses a unique algorithm to choose the best set of real glasses for your lens design that provides superior color correction (including the generation of apochromatic systems) while considering factors such as glass transmission, cost, and weight. You are provided a practical final set of glasses in a fraction of the time required by manual glass selection.
- The Asphere Writer Utility exports CODE V aspheric lens data in either the QED Optical Data Interchange Format (QODIF) or the ZYGO ASJ format. Asphere Writer creates fabrication-ready file information that ensures the lens system will be manufactured as designed in CODE V, with no data translation errors.

- LightTools' charting has been updated with a new look and many additional features that allow you to fully customize charts to meet personal, company, or industry standards.
- Expanded beam statistics provide lighting designers with access to beam and field width information for analysis and optimization.
- CAD file elements allow you to associate LightTools entities with an externally created CAD file, so you can update geometry on demand without losing optical properties and other parameters. CATIA, IGES, SAT, and STEP formats are accepted.
- Generate photometric reports in standardized IES formats. IES Indoor, Flood, and Road Report types are all supported.
- Visualize illuminance in the 3D Design view on any dummy plane surface in order to quickly understand the shape and orientation of the distribution relative to the model geometry.
- Compute and optimize color differences on any spatial or angular mesh. This analysis is useful for producing an even color distribution, such as for LED based luminaires.
- Calculate color rendering index (CRI) on any receiver – ideal for LED and luminaire design
