Issues Resolved in LightTools 7.2 SR1

This service release patch corrects 15 customer-reported bugs, including:

  • Fixes a crashing bug that sometimes occurred when generating intensity color plots.
  • Fixes a crashing bug that occurred for models containing objects built with a large number of Boolean operations.
  • Fixes a crashing bug that occurred when importing library elements with aluminum material into models created prior to version 7.2 with an existing aluminum material definition.
  • Implements an improvement to support cross-section values smaller than 1e-14 in Mie scatter models.
  • Updates the SolidWorks Link Module to fix data translation incompatibilities between LightTools and SolidWorks 2012.
  • Corrects a problem that prevented move commands from working correctly for surfaces with receivers, when the receivers were also selected.

We strongly encourage all LightTools 7.2 users to apply this patch.

Quick Tip – Customizing Color Maps for LumViewer Charts

In LightTools 7.2, the LumViewer has been significantly enhanced with a new look and many additional features to customize illumination simulation results. This gives you greater flexibility to produce charts to meet analysis goals, company or industry standards, or personal preferences.

For example, the Custom Color Map allows you to customize the color scheme in a chart. To access color controls:

  1. Select the Chart Properties button in the LumViewer toolbar.
  2. Click the Edit option next to the Custom Color Map option in the Properties Pane.

In the Custom Color Map dialog box, you can change the palette of colors, the number of color levels, the range of data represented by each color, and whether the color map uses percentages or absolute values for the value range.

Chart settings can be saved and restored as templates using the menus File > Save Template or File > Apply Template. The current chart settings can be saved as the defaults for newly created charts by selecting the menu File > Save Chart Defaults.

For complete details about the LumViewer features, see Chapter 6 in the LightTools Illumination Module User’s Guide.
