LightTools User Survey – Give Us Your Input, We'll Give You a LightTools Cap!

In effort to better serve our LightTools users, we are conducting an on-line LightTools User survey.  The survey should take about 15 minutes to complete (longer if you want to give us a lot of input!) and is designed to give us information on how you use LightTools, your level of satisfaction with it, and what improvements and other enhancements you would like us to make.

As an expression of appreciation for your time (and an incentive for your quick response), we will send all users who complete the survey by June 20, a LightTools cap (pictured above).

Updates to ORA's Customer Service Web Site – LightTools Training Materials

There are several LightTools Training Course presentations available to users on ORA's Customer Service area of the web (www.oraservice.com).    These presentations are the same materials as those given at ORA sponsored training classes and cover a wide range of topics.  Most presentations include hands-on workshop problems and their solutions.  They are provided on the Customer Service web site to give users additional resources on using LightTools more effectively.  They are available under LightTools Support > Training Course Notes and include:

• Introduction to LightTools:  This training class covers the basics on modeling illumination based optics in LightTools.  Topics include creating objects and defining their optical properties, modeling sources and receivers, and performing illumination ray tracing and analysis.  These training materials have been recently updated to include the latest LightTools features.

• Advanced Topics in LightTools:  This newly added 3-day course assumes a basic familiarity with LightTools.  It covers Optimization, Macro Programming including LightTools COM/API feature, and Photorealistic Rendering.

• LightTools Backlight Design: This application specific training course covers the basics in modeling and analyzing backlight systems in LightTools.  Topics include modeling light guides using in backlit systems, 3D textures, scattering, diffusers, CCFL and LED source modeling, and receiver analysis.

• LightTools Digital Projector Design:  This application specific training course covers the basics in modeling and analyzing digital projector systems in LightTools.  Topics include projector technology fundamentals, LCD and DMD light engines, arc lamp sources, receiver filtering, and ANSI and JBMMA analysis.
