CODE V 10.5 Now Available

We are pleased to announce that CODE V 10.5 is now available for download at https://solvnet.synopsys.com/downloadcenter.

New Features in CODE V 10.5

CODE V 10.5 delivers many useful enhancements. Key new features include:

Reduce Tolerance Sensitivity Control
CODE V has been enhanced to allow direct optimization of the as-built RMS wavefront error. The new Reduce Tolerance Sensitivity control (SAB, for Sensitivity As Built) is used in optimization to reduce the impact of tolerances on final system performance. The tight integration of CODE V’s tolerancing and optimization processes helps users create practical optical designs that meet performance requirements and minimize production costs with achievable component and assembly tolerances and post-assembly adjustments. The SAB control can be used in CODE V’s local optimization feature, as well as Global Synthesis®. View the video

Improved Surface Irregularity Modeling
A new irregularity model for CODE V’s Monte Carlo-based tolerancing provides increased flexibility and robustness for modeling optical surface shape irregularities and their impact on as-built system performance. The model utilizes CODE V’s interferogram file construct, which allows the direct import of interferometrically measured surface or wavefront deformations to define the tolerance-based surface irregularity. The interferogram file approach can be applied to any surface shape and oriented independently of other lens construction parameters. View the video

View Lens (VIE) User Interface Updates
The View Lens (VIE) user interface has been extensively redesigned for improved usability. There are now four tabbed pages, replacing the previous seven, with the functionality divided into:

  • Rendering controls
  • Ray Drawing controls
  • Surface Drawing controls
  • Plot Offset and Overlay controls

Revised Reference Manual Structure
In version 10.4 and earlier, the CODE V Reference Manual consisted of four volumes. In version 10.5, the Reference Manual has been divided into a series of smaller, topical reference manuals to make it easier for users to locate information and print the documentation as needed. The new reference manual set in 10.5 includes:

  • Setup and Operation Reference Manual
  • Lens System Setup Reference Manual
  • Lens Data Transformation and Visualization Reference Manual
  • Optimization Reference Manual
  • Tolerancing Reference Manual
  • Diagnostic Analysis Reference Manual
  • Geometrical Analysis Reference Manual
  • Diffraction Analysis Reference Manual
  • Beam Propagation and Coupling Efficiency Reference Manual
  • Fabrication Support Reference Manual
  • Systems Analysis Reference Manual
  • Multilayer Design Reference Manual
  • Macro-PLUS Reference Manual

The main menu for the CODE V Electronic Document Library has been updated to reflect the new reference manual structure. To view the main menu, choose the Help > CODE V Online Reference Manual menu. Hover your cursor over a book title in the main menu to display the document description.

In addition, the CODE V 10.5 Release Notes include a complete description of the contents of the new set of reference manuals and for comparison lists the location of this information in the version 10.4 Reference Manual.

Special Notice for GUI Users

For users that modify their CODE V interface with macro toolbar or menu items, or run macros from the Tools > Macro Manager dialog box, please read this information about a recently discovered problem in CODE V 10.5 that may affect you.

For more information on these and other enhancements in CODE V 10.5, read the CODE V 10.5 Release Notes.

Updated Asphere Writer Available on the Customer Portal

An updated version of the Asphere Writer utility is now available on the Customer Portal. You must download and install this update in order to use the utility with CODE V 10.5.

Asphere Writer is a COM-based utility for exporting lens data either in QED Optical Data Interchange Format (QODIF), used by QED’s optical grinding/polishing equipment, or in the ASJ format required by ZYGO’s fabrication equipment and VeriFire™ Asphere interferometer metrology system.
