CODE V Tips – Miscellaneous Tips from Tech Support

Here are some quick Tips from the CODE V Tech Support Team:

  • Incrementing a thickness (TIN): The TIN command can be used to increment a surface thickness.  This can be especially useful it you want to easily enter some defocus at the image surface.  For example, TIN SI .01 will add .01 in/mm/cm of defocus to your lens.

  • Splitting a Text Window for Data Comparison: CODE V text and graphics windows can be split to allow easy data comparison.  For example, you can split the MTF output window to compare various field or zoom positions as shown below.

Split the MTF output window to compare various field or zoom positions: Left click the split bar and drag it down
    Click for a larger view

Graphics windows can also be split.  Each pane can then be zoomed separately, allowing you to zoom in on separate sections of the same lens drawing or analysis plot.
  • Using The Lens Filename as its Title: You can use the TIT (FIL) command to define your lens title using its filename.  This will make it obvious on plots and in output which design version was used for analysis.

Use the lens filename as its title
  • Bonus Tip from ORA Engineering Services: Save your lens with the date in the filename to help you easily identify different versions of your design (e.g., SAV RELAY_NOV292010.LEN; TIT (FIL))
