Quick Tips – Transferring Your CODE V GUI Settings After a CODE V Update
CODE V 10.1 will start shipping next month. Some of the enhancements included in version 10.1 will be:
- Several updates to CODE V's new Beam Synthesis Propagation™ (BSP) feature, including a GUI (command mode only was released in version 10.0).
- The ability to use BSP data to compute coupling efficiency (CEF).
- New capabilities and controls of derivative increments used during optimization that will be particularly beneficial for optical systems where the merit function is not strongly related to wavefront errors or surface sag.
- Expanded file versioning support for file names that contain spaces.
- Improved calculation of uncalibrated distortion calculations in the Field Map (FMA) option, and more…
In anticipation of this update, we want to remind CODE V users of a supplied utility, ORARegistryConverter, which you can use to transfer any customization you may have made to the CODE V graphical user interface. Some of the customization CODE V users make to the GUI include rearranging items on the GUI toolbar, assigning macros to the toolbar, adding frequently used macros to menus, modifying which data is displayed in the CODE V status bar, specifying favorite lenses in the New Lens Wizard, and adding spectral profiles for customized wavelength definitions.

The ORARegistryConverter utility is available in the main CODE V installation directory (e.g., C:\CODEV101, for version 10.1).

When you run ORARegistryConverter.exe, you will be asked to select which earlier version of CODE V you want to transfer your settings from:

After you select the version (10.0 in this example), and click the Copy Settings… button, you will be asked to select which version to copy to, as well as which settings:

Now all of your CODE V GUI settings will be copied from version 10.0 to version 10.1!
