Quick Tip – Tips, Tricks, and FAQs from CODE V Technical Support

Last month we held our annual CODE V Regional User Group meetings in Pasadena, San Jose, Rochester and Orlando.  Based on post-event surveys, feedback on the events was extremely positive.  Thank you all for attending!

For those who were unable to attend these events, we have placed copies of the User Group Presentations on ORA's Customer Service area of the web at www.oraservice.com (see "Updates to ORA's Customer Service Web Site" below for a complete list of presentations).

One of the presentations we'd like to feature in this month's CODE V Enews is titled CODE V Tips, Tricks, and Cool Stuff, which features a compilation of some of the top tips the ORA Technical Support Team uses themselves, and often recommends to our customers.  The presentation includes:

  • Different methods for opening files in CODE V
  • Ways to control the accumulation of CODE V files, such as old versions of lens files, CODE V recover files, files created by Undo, and orphaned temporary files.
  • Tricks for when and how to save your lens model in a macro; useful when the macro will be modifying your model to perform various analyses.
  • Renaming CODE V Tabbed Output Windows
  • Tricks for handling unusual aspheric surfaces that may have more than one ray intersection.
  • Special tricks for modeling and analyzing fisheye and other wide angle lens systems in CODE V.

A similar presentation from this year's User Group Meetings is titled FAQs to CODE V Tech Support, which features answers to several of the most frequently answered questions related to:

  • Computing OPD in CODE V
  • Understanding the meaning of error and warning messages in the new Image Simulation feature (IMS), including advice on how to address them.
  • Understanding and successfully using interferogram (INT) files in CODE V.

For more details on these topics, please visit www.oraservice.com, and follow the User Group Presentation link under CODE V Support.

Updates to ORA's Customer Service Web Site

ORA's Customer Service Web Site, www.oraservice.com, has undergone a face lift!  Based on feedback from visitors, we've made it easier to navigate to the various areas of the site.  Users can still navigate to different areas using the pull right menus under CODE V and LightTools Support, but we've also added direct links to each area on the Welcome page.

We've also added a "What’s New" section on the Welcome page that gives direct links to new and updated information on the site.

If you'd like to offer additional feedback on how we can improve this site, you can click the "Give Us Feedback" button on the right side of the Welcome page.  We'll do our best to continue to improve this site based on customer feedback.

This month, copies of the following 2007 CODE V User Group Presentations have been added under CODE V Support > User Group Presentations:

  • CODE V Tips, Tricks, and Cool Stuff
  • Compensator Selection Using Singular Value Decomposition (SVD) for Tolerancing & Alignment
  • Slope Error Tolerances for Optical Surfaces
  • Effective Use of the CODE V Field Map Option
  • FAQs to CODE V Tech Support
